Location: Kambatta Viswanathar Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva situated in the southern side of Adi Kumbeswarar temple, Tamilnadu town Kumbakonam, India. In the olden days this area is known as Malathi Vanam and it is believed that a famous saint called “Thoomakethu” found this temple. Mankayarkarasi and Sekkizhar are other major statues placed along with the main idols in this temple.
The famous Hindu festival of Mahamaham is associated with this temple. Several other minor festivals are celebrated each month here.
Importance: During Nayaka period coin minting was here so the temple is known as Kambatta Viswanadhar.
